Fearless

I'm fearless.

If you knew me, you might laugh at that statement. I'm not one of those girls who prances around the world without a care in the world, tackling every new opportunity with boldness and sass. While I love wind-blown-hair and out-of-breath excitement & adventure, I find myself paralyzed by very "normal" fears. How it is that I can travel around the world with with no anxiety but a trip to the supermarket floods my mind with panic and worry? How is it that the God of the universe has blessed me with gifts, but instead of using them I run from them? What is it about fear that paralyzes us anyway? It is the fear of the unknown? Maybe the lack of control? I would say yes to all of these things, but I think the root of the issue is actually simpler than we make it out to be. I think fear is a sign of unbelief and I think the answer lies in the Gospel. The Gospel is given by grace, and received by belief. I believe God makes us fearless AS we believe in Him and what He has accomplished. We will not become fearless by our own accomplishments, but by what He has already accomplished. Being fearless isn't gained by mustering up our own strength and courage, but in taking claim of His. If I strive to be fearless in my own strength, then I will fail every time. Being fearless in Christ, is not the absence of fear, but it is the abundance of belief. Being fearless isn't earned, it's freely given.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-1 Timothy 1:7

Friends, this is good news. I don't know about you, but i'm claiming my gift. I'm putting down my banner of fear, and raising my flag of faith.

I'm not fearless because of who I am, but because of Whose I am.

If you're struggling with fear today, I want to tell you that He knows, He sees and He understands. And His power is enough. Today I'm taking heart & choosing courage. His love leads me & His faithfulness makes me fearless.
